I am currently based in Frankfurt — a cosmopolitan, vibrant, and international city often referred to as “Mainhattan” for its role as Germany’s financial hub. Frankfurt has a distinctive atmosphere, excellent connectivity, one of the world’s busiest airports, and a beautiful skyline.
Unlike many smaller German cities, Frankfurt is highly international — English is widely spoken, and its diverse communities represent countries from all over the world. The city has a high concentration of top-qualified professionals with international experience, many of whom work in the IT and banking industries.

Frankfurt offers a variety of liveable districts: the prestigious Westend, the beautiful and calm Nordend, the compact yet stylish city centre, the newly developed Ostend, and the diverse Sachsenhausen. New construction projects are taking place across the city, adding to its dynamic character. My favourite contrast is the interplay between the modern skyscrapers and the historic buildings in the city centre. Some of these landmarks were designed by world-renowned architects such as Bjarke Ingels, Ben van Berkel, Norman Foster, and others.
Frankfurt is exceptionally well connected. From the central railway station, Europe’s major cities — including Paris, Berlin, Munich, Zurich, Brussels, Amsterdam, and Vienna — can all be reached within four to six hours by train. For longer distances, the city’s major international airport provides excellent global connections.

The surroundings of Frankfurt are picturesque and offer a wide range of activities from hiking and swimming to sightseeing and wine tasting. One of my favorite nearby cities is Heidelberg, known for its baroque castle, the oldest university in Europe, its historic city centre, and its dramatic, steep landscape.
Frankfurt offers a vibrant social and cultural life, with its opera houses, the renowned Museum Mile, and notable exhibitions featuring artists such as Vincent van Gogh, Rubens, and Renoir. The city also hosts jazz concerts, fairs, festivals, open-air dances, and international community events almost every day. It is a “small big city” — compact yet cosmopolitan, offering an exceptional quality of life.

One of my favourite spots in Frankfurt is the European Central Bank (EZB) building, designed by Coop Himmelb(l)au, along with the modern Hafenpark nearby and the constant street dancing that takes place under the bridge. I absolutely love it!
